Lat week on Archer we saw the entire ISIS family venture to South America on what might have been on arms deal. It turns out the dictator is in love with Cherlene, but this week we see the much-anticipated continuation as they left us on a cliff hanger.
With that being said, Spoiler’s do lie below. If you don’t want to spoil it, I suggest you come back after you have watched the episode Palace Intrigue: Part II.
This episode opens up right after the mortar firing is ending, which is a continuation from last weeks. The usual banter between Lana and Cherlene is here right from the beginning and Malory comes to the rescue. We see that Archer can’t seem to stop having certain relations with others, mainly the wife of the dictator. Then we learn that Cherlene’s album went platinum because the dictator bought all of the albums and is using precious troops to unload them. Archer attempts to cover up his relationship with the wife, by shooting Cyril. Quite an opening indeed, yes quite an opening.
Well, they didn’t want to keep everyone worrying, Cyril was rocking a Kevlar vest because whenever he is in South America, Archer shoots him. He is brought back by Pam’s rendition of “Stayin’ Alive”. Lana then uses her baby to try and get out of the country, unfortunately Malory believe it or not is not in the mood, although through some thinking she decides to get the entire gang out of the country. Although we are left with the question, where is Dr.Krieger? The last we saw him he was hunting down his clones, but this episode has plenty more of him in store. In fact he has feelings and is not to kind of the gang being very quick about leaving him behind. He decides to join the clones and has many questions, which leads to quite an interesting childhood story. I am very happy to see Dr.Krieger getting the attention he deserves.
Cyril is on a mission to do something right in the eyes of Malory, it appears it is him trying to find a car. He is very upset not just about Malory, but also in regards to Archers behavior. Seeing the dictators massive garage makes his stress go away quite quickly, it comes back with trying to pick a car. With Dictator Gustavo we see that he likes to this his dictatorship is similar to the presidency or at least when he explains it to Cherlene. Lana and Archer are upset with each other, for reasons that are pretty much out all on the table, he also doesn’t know how to steal a painting. And since they are getting money for the weapons, Malory wants to make as much money on this deal as possible. Everyone seems to be getting on this arch about being upset with Archer, similar to Ray a few episodes ago.
Now, as I said before this episode is action packed and things to start pick up steam quite quickly. Right after Pam decides the easiest way to get all of the luggage down stairs is by sliding it down the stairs. The dictator proclaims he will divorce his wife for Cherlene, this is the spark that ignites the fire. This leads to more lying to Cherlene about the American Justice System, we also can see that way to many people have guns. Unfortunately, Archer’s head and body is what they are pointing too. Pam takes the bullet for Archer, which is a very intense scene. Luckily, there is no blood and she turns out to be okay, although the kevlar vest is getting a lot of use. Archer was quite heart broken about Pam looking like she was dead for a few seconds there, then Cherlene comes to the rescue and knocks out the dictator and then goes after the wife.
Then Cherlene becomes married to the Dictator Gustavo, a very quick wedding. He then announces that everyone else will be going to jail, except for Archer who he plans to kill. Then the general comes in and announces that the rebels have become better and are descending on the palace. We then close out the episode with some more comedy, Cyril chose a tank as the car and he comes in just at the knick of time. To put it simple Cyril stands up against Archer, and the general surrenders to Cyril. We end with Archer trying to remember a comeback and joke, but Pam beats him to the punch.
We are left on another cliff hanger and I for one can not wait for the next episode or even for the next teaser video. So much has happened in season 5 of Archer and with two episodes left, we still have more questions that needs answers. For sure these last two episodes will leave us wanting for me and should answer some of these questions. From having ISIS shut down, to become drug dealers, to arm dealers, and then to whatever you would call the gang now, one thing for sure is a lot has happened.
