LG is kicking off it’s 2015 CES announcements early, tonight they have announced their entry into the wireless speaker market. An area that Sonos and Samsung’s Shape line have been in for quite some time, in fact Sonos is the original pioneer in this sector of the market. The Music Flow WiFi line is not just all wireless sound machines, but you also get a 3D Blu-Ray player, along with a WiFi speaker and sound bars. With these WiFi sound bars, we see that not only Samsung is gaining part of the market that Sonos has been the kind of. The new Music Flow WiFi line will be first shown off at the consumer electronics show and should be launching later this year.
Each of these new devices can be used by themselves or in combination with one another, they all utilize 2.4/5GHz dual band WiFi. LG is quick to point out, that while some other wireless speakers use Bluetooth connectivity, the Music Flow line uses WiFi, one big advantage is that the stream of audio from the smartphone will continue even if you are receiving a call. Of course the music being streamed can be stored locally or come from a service like Spotify. LG is looping geo location technology in with this new line, for instance you could be listening to music via headphones but when you get home and get within one foot of the speaker, it will automatically switch over to playing on that source.
There is not one, but two sound bars in the Music Flow line, they both full and immersive audio. The difference is that the HS9/LAS950M has deep acoustics, while the HS7/LAS750M has seamless HD sound. LG is also releasing their first battery-powered WiFi speaker, more specifically the LG H4 Portable/NP8350, this could be seen as a competitor to the portable Sonos devices or even the Bluetooth wireless speakers. Lastly, the BP550 is a streaming 3D Blu-Ray player, which stream wirelessly the audio from any CD or USB drive to the Music Flow speakers.
It is very exciting to see LG entreating the Wireless Speaker market with the Music Flow WiFi line. The entire line will be shown off the first time at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, but they should be launching by the end of the 2015. You can see a press release and a gallery below. LG MUSIC FLOW WI-FI SERIES TAKES WIRELESS MUSIC TO A NEW LEVEL OF CONVENIENCE
New Lineup Includes Company’s First Portable
Music Flow Speaker for Seamless Music Experience Anywhere
SEOUL, Dec. 23, 2014 ― At the 2015 International CES® in Las Vegas, LG Electronics (LG) will showcase its new Music Flow Wi-Fi Series lineup for music and movie lovers worldwide. The lineup includes the company’s first battery-powered Wi-Fi Speaker (Model H4 Portable/NP8350), advanced Wi-Fi Sound Bars (Models HS7/LAS750M and HS9/LAS950M) and the Streaming 3D Blu-ray Player (Model BP550). These speakers are designed to be compatible with Android and iOS devices.
Each LG Music Flow Wi-Fi device can be used independently or connected to one another device wirelessly, using Advanced Wireless Network and Dual Band Wi-Fi (2.4/5GHz) technology to deliver a seamless audio experience. Unlike other Bluetooth speakers, streaming to a Music Flow Wi-Fi Series speaker from a smartphone continues uninterrupted when receiving a call. And if home libraries aren’t enough, users can stream music from service providers such as Spotify, Deezer, Napster, and TuneIn.
The LG H4 Portable/NP8350 is the company’s first wireless speaker with a built-in battery for easy portability from one room to another in the home. The Music Flow Wi-Fi Series lineup also includes two Wi-Fi Sound Bars that deliver rich, full and immersive audio — the HS7/LAS750M provides seamless HD sound while the HS9/LAS950M offers outstanding, deep acoustics.
LG Music Flow makes creating a personalized wireless home entertainment center easier than ever. In Home Cinema Mode, users can wirelessly connect two of H4 Portable/NP8350 speakers to the Wi-Fi Sound Bar as rear left and right channels to completely immerse the viewer in surround sound. Each speaker can be individually set to match the desired environment based on the speaker’s position. And LG’s BP550 Streaming 3D Blu-ray Player can be connected to Music Flow speakers to stream sound from any CD or USB drive.
What’s more, the Auto Music Play feature gives LG Music Flow the ability to deliver a user experience that maximizes convenience for listeners on the go. Music on a smartphone will automatically begin playing on a Music Flow Wi-Fi speaker when the phone comes within one foot. So you could be listening to music on your headphones on the subway ride home but the music will begin playing automatically from your living room Wi-Fi Sound Bar when you enter your living room.
The collection also comes with LG HomeChatTM capability that allows users to control the LG devices using the popular LINE free-text messaging app on any smartphone or tablet. Users can use this feature, basically sending a text to the speaker with simple commands such as “play songs for party” or “turn off music after one hour.” With HomeChatTM, LG Music Flow Wi-Fi Series can also act as a personal assistant, setting alarms and alerting users of upcoming events on command.
“The flexibility and quality of the LG Music Flow Wi-Fi Series delivers a listening experience that goes beyond what conventional audio systems have been able to offer until now,” said Byung-hoon Min, senior vice president and head of the CAV division at the LG Home Entertainment Company. “With Wi-Fi capability and high-fidelity audio output, our Music Flow Wi-Fi Series is the epitome of what a smart audio system should be capable of in the 21st century.”
