Securifi is kicking off the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show by officially launching the Almond+ touchscreen router and home automation device. It is available today from Amazon.com for $249.99, but for the month of January it will be available for the price of only $199.99. It will also be launching in both Europe and Canada later this quarter, with more regions coming soon after. The Almond+ is of course the next generation Almond router, it was originally unveiled at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show and soon after went live on Kickstarter.
Since then, they have given the device some big upgrades. It now features a fast dual core Cortex-A9 processor, Z-Wave, ZigBee, 3×3 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and USB 3.0 connectivity. The router and smart home hub also features a 3.5-inch touch screen display. The user interface on the Almond+ looks similar to Windows 8 design scheme, but by having this you can control everything from the unit itself. You do not need to use an application your smartphone to add a sensor. Securifi does offer mobile applications for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone which will let you have remote access to the sensors. They also offer a web-based cloud UI and a local web UI on the Almond+ itself, even if the internet goes out. Once again the Almond+ is available today from Amazon.com at the regular price of $249.99, but for the month of January you can get it for just $199.99.
Securifi has one more product up their sleeves for CES 2015, and that is the Almond 2015, a more affordable and entry-level smart home hub. It is the next generation of the original Almond and will be replacing it. It does provide a boost form the original specifications of the Almond. The Almond 2015 has improved 802.11n Wi-Fi, ZigBee and a USB port for future Z-Wave support via a USB dongle. It provides many of the same great features found in Almond+, but comes in at a more affordable price point of $99.99. Securifi has not yet announced the exact availability of the Almond 2015. Press Release
The smarthome hub is dead, long live the router – The Almond+ and Almond 2015 launches at CES 2015
Taipei – (January 5, 2015) – Securifi Inc. (www.securifi.com), has launched the much-anticipated Almond+ touchscreen router and home automation gateway into the retail market, starting in the United States as of today via Amazon.com for US$249.99. However, for the month of January the Almond+ will be available for the introductory price of US$199.99. The Almond+ will be launched in Europe and Canada later this quarter, with other regions expected to follow.
The Almond+ took Kickstarter by storm when our campaign went live during CES 2013, raising over $855,000 thanks to some 7,606 backers. During our development process the Almond+ has gone through some major upgrades and it now sports a dual core Cortex-A9 processor, 3×3 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, ZigBee and USB 3.0 connectivity, as well as a 3.5” touch screen display.
Courtesy of the touchscreen display, adding sensors to the Almond+ is a breeze, as you don’t have to use an app or some complicated web UI. Apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone are of course available for remote access to sensors and devices and in addition to that, we also offer a web-based cloud UI and a local web UI on the Almond+ itself that allows for control of your home automation network, even in the case of an internet outage. We’ve also built the automation into the Almond+ itself, instead of relying on a cloud service for what is possibly the most crucial part in a home automation gateway.
The Almond 2015
For those that are interested in trying out home automation, but are on a slightly tighter budget, we’re also launching the Almond 2015. This is an updated version of the wildly popular original Almond router which offers a boost in performance, improved 802.11n Wi-Fi, ZigBee and a USB port for future Z-Wave support via a USB dongle. It’ll offer a similar overall feature set to the Almond+, but for a much more affordable price point at US$99.99.
