H. Jon Benjamin plays one of the most iconic roles in the history of animation, no not Bob Belcher on Fox’s Bobs Burgers, but as Sterling Archer on FX’s Archer. We had the chance to interview H. Jon and as you know his character Archer became a father last season, and many of our questions speak about this aspect. While we can’t talk about the first episode of Season 6, which is premiering tonight at 10PM on FX, he was able to speak about it. Read on to see our full interview with H. Jon Benjamin.
Q – At the end of last season Archer became a father, does this change his role?
A – Well, he’s not the changing diapers kind of guy unless it’s one he’s wearing, but I think it will inevitably sink in that he needs to learn to accept more responsibility as a parent than did his parents with him.
Q – What can we expect from Archer this season, are things going to back the normal antics?
A – Well, there is a lot more Archer and Lana again and their relationship re: how they are going to cope being spy parents. It’s hard to be raise a child while simultaneously destabilizing third world dictatorships.
Q – Will the baby be brought along on any missions?
A – I don’t recall seeing her on a mission, but I know Archer uses her as an excuse all the time to get out of things.
Q – What are you most excited about for Season 6?
A – I really like this new dynamic between Archer and his work and his new life trying to help raise a child with Lana. I think he loves Lana, so things are going to get sticky (phrasing).
