All wireless networks have to be ready in case of an emergency, after all during and after these events occur people will use their phones to stay connected. And these methods of connecting go over both voice and data networks. Verizon Wireless has a very well prepared emergency plan in place, as we have seen in the past. With the incoming Winter Storm Juno, which has taken over social media as #blizzardof2015, they will have to put these plans into play. States like New Jersey, New York, and even up north in Massachusetts are preparing for upwards of 2 feet of snow. Andrew Testa, the PR Manager for New York Metro Region has provided us with the statement below.
“Verizon Wireless Network Operations prepares all year round for anticipated events, such as the arrival of Winter Storm Juno in the Northeast. As with every storm, we have activated preparedness plans and reviewed resources.”
Verizon is quite prepared with this, as they staff several emergency specialists and have plenty of hardware to separate the network. From portable generator to cell-on-wheels(COW) vehicles, which will keep the network going. They have the preparedness plans activated for Winter Storm Juno and are reviewing all the resources available and determine where to distribute them across the areas. Stay safe through Winter Storm Juno!
