Samsung is having their 2016 Consumer Electronics Show press conference right now, but they just launched two new designs of the Gear S2 Classic. You can now get the Gear S2 Class in 18K Rose Gold and in Platinum, thus providing more options for customers to express their styles with. I also have a hunch that the Rose Gold and Platinum Gear S2 Classic’s will be more expensive than the regular Gear S2.
The Rose Gold model will be paired with an Ivory Genuine Leather Band and the Platinum model will be paired with a Black Genuine Leather band. Both of the new models of the Gear S2 Classic will begin to ship in February. It still has the same features of the regular Gear S2, like the circle display which uses the circular watch to control the navigation of the Tizen operating system. The Gear S2 is also the only smartwatch that still delivers a separate 3G connection
The new Gear S2 Classic will include NFC Technology just in time for the device to get Samsung Pay support this Spring.
In terms of software, Samsung has announced that it is working with it’s partners to create new experiences and provide added conveniences to the users of the Gear S2. Both CNN and Bloomberg have added a watch face feature, along with partners like eBay, ESPN, Uber, and Voxer.
To go along with these new Gear S2 Classic design, Samsung is adding more watch straps and watch faces. They have partnered with Colombo to create to new watch straps and are adding new fun watch faces that include Peanuts characters.
