In the past few years, records have started to come back and vinyl still sounds very good and true to the track. Serial Groove has chosen CES 2015 to be it’s launching point for its latest product. Introducing the Revolution turntable, which was designed and premisses to deliver ultimate-quality playbook. It is also designed to be part of a full high-end music system setup. The body of the device is using a AC synchronous motor that is both low voltage and high courage, but it used in combination with a sine-wave-generator power supply. The motor is very quiet during playback and you control the speed electronically. You can choose between 33-1/3 and 45 rpm for the speed. The design of the Revolution turntable is similar to a pyramid design. It is three level body that is made from two materials, this combines to form a dense surface that is well suited for a turntable. It has a graphite top plat which has vibration=damping technologies built inside the feet. This essentially removes the mechanical vibrations out the equation, leaving you with the sound of the music. Even though the feet have the isolation technology built-in, they can still be resized. By making the armband removable, you have plenty of room to switch out the records. The Spiral Groove Revolution is available now and has a retail price of around $15,000. Spiral Groove Debuts Its Revolution
Ultrahigh-End Turntable at CES 2015
BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA, January 6, 2015– At CES 2015 Spiral Groove is introducing its Revolution turntable, designed to deliver ultimate-quality record playback. The new Revolution is on exhibit at The Venetian, Booth 35-310 (January 6 – 9, 2015) as part of a complete high-end music system.
The Revolution turntable is engineered using Spiral Groove’s Balanced Force Design™ approach, aimed at achieving the most elegant equilibrium of materials, performance, function, manufacturability and beauty.
The body of the Revolution utilizes a low voltage/high-torque AC synchronous motor with an outboard sine-wave-generator power supply. The motor is decoupled from the rest of the turntable and elastomer-mounted in a machined one-piece motor mount, for exceptionally quiet record playback. Speed control is electronically selectable for 33-1/3 and 45 rpm.
The Revolution features a three-layer body made from two materials, forming a dense, rigid and well-damped, non-resonant platform to which the working parts of the turntable can be precisely mounted and isolated from one another.
The platter employs a truncated pyramid design with a graphite top plate and vibration-damping technologies drawn from Spiral Groove’s Strange Attractor isolation feet, which refract, reflect and ultimately dissipate unwanted mechanical vibrations. The inverted sapphire disc/hardened steel bearing is the same at that used in Spiral Groove’s flagship SG1.1 turntable.
The Revolution’s adjustable feet are customized Strange Attractors incorporating additional elastomer isolation technology.
The Revolution’s removable armboard allows easy arm changes and the turntable will accommodate most tonearms up to 12 inches in length. At CES 2015 the Revolution will be on exhibit with the Spiral Groove Centroid Universal tonearm, an ultimate-performance tonearm built from materials selected for low mass, high strength and the ability to transfer mechanical energy away from the cartridge.
The Spiral Groove Revolution turntable is currently available at a suggested retail price of $15,000.
Spiral Groove is distributed in the U.S. by Immedia, along with Canalis loudspeakers, Strange Attractors vibration control accessories and QUALIA & COMPANY audio components.
