CES 2018 might not officially start until next week, but that doesn’t mean companies can’t start early. Dell has just unveiled the new XPS 13 which is the smallest 13-inch laptop on the market. It improves on the previous models of the device in almost every way, from the design to the power of the machine. Even better, the consumer won’t have to wait long to get their hands on it as it is available for pre-order today.

The design has been refreshed, to say the least, which Dell says was inspired by fashion. It comes through with an aluminum shell in a shade of rose gold or platinum silver. The rose gold variant has a white paint job on the inside, while the silver has a black interior. Dell paid plenty attention to detail, so much so that you get either a carbon fiber composite palm rest or an alpine white woven glass fiber palm rest. Meaning no matter what color you go for, the XPS 13 is an amazingly crafted laptop that will amaze at first glance and the last one.

The XPS 13 is also lighter and thinner coming in at around 2.67 pounds. And to make the display more immersive, you get smaller borders around it. It is so much thinner that Dell has placed the Widescreen HD camera and some sensors below the screen, under the logo.

Dell has packed in a 13.3-inch UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge at 3840 X 2160, but you can also opt for models that use a Full HD variant and ones that add in touch. You can get the XPS 13 running Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, or even Ubuntu 16. Powering any of those experiences is either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with up to 16GB of RAM. These state of the art processors paired with a large amount of RAM can make for a seamless user experience, to say the least. The XPS 13 can also be customized with up to a 1TB SSD.

And while the refined XPS 13 is thinner and lighter, it still packs a punch with up to 19 hours and 46 minutes of battery life from a 52WHr battery. Regarding connectivity, you get two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a USB-C port, a microSD card reader, a headphone jack, and a Noble lock slot.

While competing laptops might be starting at a mid one thousand price range, the Dell XPS 13 starts at just $999. Meaning that Dell is packing the latest performance in a sleek, refined design at an affordable price point. I can’t wait to get my hands on an XPS 13, and consumers don’t have to wait long as you can order one today.
