Altec Lansing Pumps Up the Sound with New All-Weather BoomJacket Speaker
Portable Bluetooth Powerhouse Rocks Hard, Mounts Easily & Lasts 40 Hours
LAS VEGAS (Jan. 6, 2015) – If you thought Altec Lansing’s all-weather Life Jacket™ portable Bluetooth® speaker couldn’t get any better, meet the BoomJacket. This sequel to last year’s indoor/outdoor mega-hit features the same rain/dirt/shock-proof construction with an even richer sonic experience, a curvy new design, mounting capabilities and up to 40 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. That’s more than twice the battery life of the Life Jacket and longer than any competitive product without having to lower the volume to conserve power.
Like its predecessor, the BoomJacket boasts a heavy-duty, washable rubberized skin that is IP67-rated for its waterproof, dustproof and shock-resistant abilities. Drop it in the pool? Spill a drink on it? Leave it outside in the rain or overnight on the beach? Not to worry. It’s floatable, submersible and impervious to indignities like dirt and sand so the music will play on – no matter what.
With dual 2.0” neodymium drivers, a passive radiator design, Altec Lansing DSP audio enhancement technology, aptX® CD-quality wireless audio and a bigger power amp that lets every riff and groove roar even when there are no walls to bounce off of, the BoomJacket pumps out huge volume along with crisp, clear sound that doesn’t miss a beat – whether your tastes run to Taylor Swift, Tupac, Tim McGraw or Talking Heads.
That first-class sound also has looks to match, thanks to a unique elliptical-shaped form factor that raises the style bar while also retaining the compact size. At just one pound and 7.5” x 3.125” x 2.825”, the new speaker is not much bigger than a wallet – perfect to fit in a purse, backpack or beach bag. It can also be attached to a bike, kayak, tent poles, tennis or volleyball uprights, or nearly anywhere else using the new universal screw mount built into the housing.
Music can be played or streamed wirelessly up to 50 feet away from Bluetooth-enabled Apple®, AndroidTM or BlackBerry® phones, tablets or laptops, or in wired mode using the built-in Aux port. Pairing is easy – complete with voice confirmation as soon as the connection is live – and needs to be set up only once per device, as the BoomJacket remembers up to eight devices.
Altec Lansing’s new sonic star is also a superstar when it comes to power. In addition to its 40-hour battery life, it can be recharged through either a computer USB port or a wall outlet, serve as a power supply for smartphones or other devices via the USB connector included in the package, and support power banks for users who need their devices recharged on the road. It even indicates how much battery power is left – verbally – by pressing the power and volume up (+) buttons on top of the speaker simultaneously.
Built-in speakerphone functionality – courtesy of an onboard microphone – allows for clear hands-free calls with spoken caller ID that reads the caller’s name instead of a phone number; the ability to dial, accept, reject and terminate calls with voice commands; and no need to disconnect to talk.
The Altec Lansing BoomJacket will ship in spring 2015 at an MSRP of $199, including a carrying pouch and USB charging, 3.5mm AUX-in and power supply cables. Mounting options will be sold separately.
