Acer has just announced the new Iconia One 8 B1-850 tablet, it is running Android and has families in mind. It is designed as an ultra affordable tablet for users who have never used Android before, as well as families with children. It features an 8-inch display and a specifically designed Acer Kids Center app, that allows for a child-friendly user interface and parental controls.

The Iconia One 8 has an 8-inch HD IPS display with 10-point multi-touch, which should provide solid images and some viewing angles. It will be running Android 5.1 with an Acer user interface on top, and is powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor along with 1GB of DDR3L RAM.

While you will get 16GB of internal storage, it is expandable thanks to a micro SD card slot. You will find a 5 megapixel camera on the back and a 2 megapixel camera on the front. The Iconia One 8 will come in your choice of white or blue back covers.

Acer Kids Center will feature pre-screened content that is appropriate for children, this will include video,s games, books, and websites. With parental controls you can block access to unapproved content and even set a daily time limit for using the tablet. You will also get EZ WakeUp, EZ Snap, and System Doctor pre-installed.

The Acer Iconia One 8 B1-850 will be landing in North America come February and will start at $99.99.
