The 2018 Consumer Electronics Show might just be a week away, but that doesn’t mean cancellations can’t happen. And the current FCC Chairman Ajit Pai who is hot off the heels of repealing net neutrality and most likely destroying the internet as we know it just canceled his scheduled appearance. So, therefore, the FCC Chairman Ajit Pai might just be scared to face the people.

It is a regular event for all FCC’s Chair, and in fact, Pai spoke last year instead of the outgoing chairman Tom Wheeler. But this cancellation seems to be a unique one; after all, Gary Shapiro the head of the Consumer Electronics Association was in favor of the net neutrality repeal so that the conversation wouldn’t have been too hard-hitting. It is critical to note that the talk would have been available to the public in some forms and attendees of CES in person.

This means that Ajit Pai might have had to come face to face with the people of America, aka his constituents who might not be in total agreement with them. The CTA provided this comment to The Verge, “Unfortunately, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai is unable to attend CES 2018. We look forward to our next opportunity to host a technology policy discussion with him before a public audience.” We will have to see if Ajit Pai decides to talk in public and have this policy discussion in the future.
